Troubleshooting Guide


This Robinair pump has been designed for dependable use and long life. If something should go wrong, however, the following guide will help you get the pump back into service as quickly as possible. 
If dis-assembly of the pump is required, please check your warranty. The warranty may be voided by misuse or customer tampering that results in the pump being inoperable.
Check line voltage. Robinair pumps are designed to start at +10% line voltage (loaded) at 32o F. At extremes, however, switching between the start and run windings may occur. 

1. Verify the oil is not a residual accumulation from spillage, etc.
2. If leakage exists, the module cover gasket or the shaft seal may need replacing. Follow the instructions supplied with Seal Replacement Kit No. 15367. If leakage exists in the area of the oil drain plug, you may need to reseal the plug using a commercial pipe thread sealer.

1. Verify the Iso-Valve™ on the pump is in the OPEN position.
2. Verify the vacuum gauge and all connections are in good conditon and leak-free. Confirm leakage by monitoring the vacuum with a thermistor gauge while applying vacuum pump oil at connections or suspected leak points. Vacuum will improve briefly while the oil is sealing the leak

Using river water to heat a river boat?

River water can be utilised to heat a boat and in the past systems using copper coils in the water have been used in conjunction with heat pumps. However, rules and regulations and the lack of available manufactured equipment have made this type of system less attractive.




Pumping river water through a heat pump can give very good results, but heat pump units require water at temperatures above 5 to 8°C (varying depending on type). Whilst delivering very high-efficiencies for much of the time, this system may fail to operate in the middle of winter during lower temperatures- just when you need the most heat, so a back-up heat source is usually advisable.

Oxygen and contaminants in the river water may also be a concern in some circumstances, causing pump failure and possibly a system refrigerant leak. But don't let me put you off; this system can give excellent results if installed correctly.

For those lucky enough to have a spring, this is a much more stable and better heat source. Its an opportunity not to be overlooked, offering excellent efficiencies. Again, acidity and impurities in the water can sometimes make its use prohibitive, but some heat pump units will tolerate ‘corrosive’ water (some Dimplex models etc). A possible alternative is to use an intermediate heat exchanger in such circumstances. However, the added temperature drop and necessary extra pump can reduce the performance considerably.

The water source should ideally be fairly close to the property, and should not require pumping up any significant height or the power for pumping it may detract from the energy savings. Having said that, water could be taken over considerable distances if the pipe diameter is big enough, especially in a downward direction. It is a relatively simple exercise to calculate the pump power required (if any) to get the water to and through the heat pump unit.

Permission should be sought from the relevant authorities as an abstraction licence may be needed.

The SE 2200A Microphone is constructed using the finest quality Japanese electronic components and extensively tested to provide you with years of trouble-free operation. Every SE2200A Microphone comes with an individual frequency response plot. The SE2200A tube microphone use traditional, high voltage tube circuitry to ensure thetrue vintage tube sound. This is in contrast to many cost saving tube designs where the tube is run at a very low operating voltage so as to introduce deliberate distortion which their designers hope to pass off as warmth. Whereas most vintage mic tubes are hard to find and extremely expensive, The SE2200A Microphone uses commonly available high performance tubes that are specially selected and matched for low noise operation.

There are two basic microphone directional patterns, omni-directional, which picks up sound equally from all directions, and figure-of-eight, which picks up from both the front and rear of the microphone but not from the sides. Combining these two basic patterns creates a cardioid or directional response, which simply means the SE2200A Microphone is most sensitive in one particular direction. By varying the way in which the omni-directional and figure-of-eight patterns are combined, varying widths of cardioid pattern can be created.
